Great Guana north-shore reefs

26° 41.8′ N · 77° 9.1′ W · approximate

Scuba Diving magazine rates the reefs along Great Guana's northernmost shore the best of the island's nearshore reefs. They sit just off miles of dune-backed Atlantic beach, with Dive Guana a short boat ride away in the settlement.

Practical

Approximate position about 300 m off the north-east (Atlantic) shore near the north end, derived from the OpenStreetMap outline of Great Guana Cay; exact sites are not published. The north end of the island is the private Baker's Bay Golf & Ocean Club, so reach the reefs by boat (Dive Guana runs private dive and snorkel charters) rather than over private land. Snorkel or dive only when the Atlantic swell is down; watch for surge near the reef crest. For an easy shore entry farther south, use Nipper's Reef. Leave coral untouched.

Best for
