Crab Cay Anchorage (Angelfish Point)

26° 55.1′ N · 77° 35.4′ W

The well-protected bay between Crab Cay and Angelfish Point on the north-east tip of Little Abaco, a staging anchorage for heading west across the bank or east to Green Turtle. Dolphins, rays and turtles are common on the approach.

Practical

ActiveCaptain position (Crab Cay East). Approach from the north and turn south-east into the anchorage, watching the obvious marked shoaling. Sand and grass in 7-14 ft with good holding (Rocnas held in 20-kt northerly gusts). Good shelter from north-east and east; poor in north-west and west, so don't get embayed when a cold front clocks through. The current runs through the gap between the eastern islet and the main island if you anchor in the south-east corner. Room for 20+ boats. Rocky beach on Angelfish with coconuts; a 2019 visitor met a pack of 6-8 loose dogs on the beach. 4 bars BTC 4G. Watch for the always-visible Centre of the World Rock on the rhumb line in (reported at 26°56.46'N, 077°41.80'W). Pre-Dorian reports (2017-2019).
