Cave Cay North Anchorage

26° 52.5′ N · 77° 54.6′ W

The north side of Cave Cay, with beaches, rocky shores full of fish and a small reef near the main lagoon inlet. It suits winds from the south-east round to the south-west.

Practical

ActiveCaptain position. Good in south-east, south and south-west winds; 6-8 ft over sand at mid-tide well inside the marker (2015-2017). Holding is inconsistent: some anchors buried deep, while others found a hard shell crust and wouldn't set (2018, 2019), so dive on it. A small reef with lots of fish lies just north-east of the main lagoon inlet (reported at 26°52.255'N, 077°54.867'W, 2017). Reach it around the bar west of Little Abaco or through the shallow Spence Rock Channel. For north-east to south-east winds use Cave Cay West (26.86357, -77.9116). Pre-Dorian reports.
