Spearfishing rules — Hawaiian sling only
The Bahamas permits spearfishing only on breath-hold with a hand-held Hawaiian sling or pole spear. Spearguns are illegal and can be confiscated at clearance.

LEGAL: hand-held Hawaiian sling, pole spear. ILLEGAL: spearguns, any mechanically powered spear, and scuba or hookah used to harvest anything. No spearfishing within 200 YARDS of the coast of any Out Island — that covers the entire Exumas chain. ZERO spearfishing inside the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park or Moriah Harbour Cay National Park. The Royal Bahamas Defence Force is permanently stationed in the Exuma Park and yachts have had gear confiscated. Sharks are fully protected.
