George Town is the only place in the Exumas with real mechanical support. For emergencies the Bahamas Air Sea Rescue Association is the volunteer SAR body — there is no Sea Tow or TowBoatUS equivalent in the Bahamas.

Authorised Suzuki dealer, Yamaha service, hull and engine repair, storage; Exuma's largest marine shop with hardware, dive gear, tackle and ice. Travel-lift capacity varies by source — confirm before planning a haul. MINNS WATER SPORTS on Lake Victoria — Yamaha outboards and parts, daily 08:30-17:00. NORTH OF GEORGE TOWN there is effectively NO mechanical support — carry spares, filters and impellers, and a means of getting parts flown into Staniel. EMERGENCY: VHF 16 for Mayday; BASRA monitors 16 and broadcasts on SSB 4003 kHz USB at 0720 UTC; HQ (242) 325-8864. MEDICAL: George Town clinic and hospital Mon-Fri; St Luke's on Staniel Cay. Facilities triage and evacuate to Nassau or Florida by air ambulance AT THE PATIENT'S COST — medical evacuation insurance is strongly recommended.
