Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center (Juneau)

58° 25.0′ N · 134° 32.7′ W

Mendenhall Glacier is Juneau's roadside glacier, seen across Mendenhall Lake from the Forest Service visitor center. It cannot be reached by boat; plan a land excursion from Auke Bay, a good way to see a glacier before the fjords.

Practical

Coordinate is the OSM visitor center. Address 6000 Glacier Spur Road; grounds open 6:00 am to midnight all year (USFS). A fee of 5 USD for ages 16 and up (15 USD season pass) applied in summer per a Travel Juneau listing; current fees unconfirmed. Hours conflict between sources (a 2025 listing says 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Sunday to Friday, closed Saturday; a Juneau Empire report said staffing cuts would reduce operations), so the 2026 schedule is unconfirmed. Phone (907) 789-0097. Bears use this valley: follow ADF&G guidance.
