Seward Small Boat Harbor (Seward)
60° 7.1′ N · 149° 26.1′ W
The city-run harbor at the head of Resurrection Bay is where the tour boats, water taxis and charter yachts are based, and it is the last full-service stop before the Kenai Fjords coast. Sailboats are a common sight here in summer.
Practical
Coordinate is the OSM marina polygon, operated by the City of Seward. The city's harbor page lists VHF 17 as the harbor monitoring channel, with office hours of 8 am to 5 pm Monday to Saturday; a 2018 Noonsite listing says channel 17 is watched 8 am to 10 pm daily, so the sources disagree and the hours are unconfirmed. Alaska Fish and Game's harbor sheet counts 565 permanent slips and 100 transient moorages, and the city lists transient moorage and sewage pump-out among its services. I found no published reservation system for visiting boats (unconfirmed), so phone or hail the harbormaster before arriving; berthing fees are payable on arrival per Noonsite. Alaska State Parks asks every boater heading into the bay to file a float plan with the Seward harbormaster. NOAA's Seward gauge gives a mean tide range of 8.3 ft and a great diurnal range of 10.6 ft.
Best for
Charter pick-up, last supplies and filing a float plan
Season
Summer is the charter and tour season; the harbor itself is open all year
