Resurrection Bay Sailing Charters (Seward)
60° 7.1′ N · 149° 26.3′ W · approximate
A small Seward charter and sailing school offering bareboat charters on its own sailboats, and the only bareboat sailing option I found for the Kenai Fjords. A skipper must show suitable credentials before taking a boat out.
Practical
Position is approximate, from a Fourth Avenue street address (1404 4th Avenue) with no exact point found. The booking pages list the Hunter 28.5 Encore, with 1 to 6 night bareboat listings, and a boat named Madrona; American Sailing describes 28 to 40 ft sailboats for its courses, so the full fleet is unconfirmed. Stated requirements: one of the US Sailing Bareboat Cruising course, ASA 104, or RYA Day Skipper, or an equivalent such as NauticEd, or documented sea time with two references, plus a sailing resume; the company says no legal licence is needed in Alaska but these are insurance rules, and the skipper must demonstrate boat handling before leaving the harbor. Check-in is listed as 10:30 am to 6 pm. Company advice: summer wind is typically light from the north until about noon, then turns south at 10 to 20 knots. Phone (907) 382-1087. A 2-week Madrona listing also appears on the booking site. Whether fuel and provisions can be found beyond Seward is unconfirmed.
