Tapiutan-Matinloc Moorings (Tapiutan Strait)

11° 12.3′ N · 119° 16.3′ E

Moorings in the dramatic strait between Tapiutan and Matinloc on the outer, western edge of the archipelago, with some of the best snorkeling in the El Nido area right off the stern.

Practical

Hacking Family: north mooring at 11°12.25'N 119°16.27'E is strong; a second mooring at 11°11.99'N 119°16.33'E off the backpacker beach has a rigid float and non-floating line about 30 m from the reef. No cell signal. Snorkeling west and south of the north mooring was among the best in the El Nido area. This is the route Tour C takes, and it is the stop most often cancelled by the Coast Guard because it lies outside the sheltered bay - same logic for a yacht: settled weather only.

Best for

Outer-archipelago snorkeling and the Matinloc beaches

Season

Settled weather; exposed when the NE monsoon or SW swell is up
