Sabang House Reef Snorkel (Sabang Beach Coral Gardens)

13° 31.4′ N · 120° 58.5′ E · approximate

The coral slope right in front of Sabang Beach, between the dive-resort bancas and the Sabang Wrecks - the easiest snorkel from a dinghy landing in Sabang, with angelfish, morays and mantis shrimps in the shallows.

Practical

Position approx: placed just seaward of the OSM Sabang Beach and Asia Divers/Point Bar features (13.5227N 120.9726E) and inshore of the Sabang Wrecks (13.52318N 120.97501E); no source publishes a surveyed snorkel point. Nigel Marsh (2024) describes the Sabang Beach coral gardens with mantis shrimps, morays and several angelfish including the rarely seen Herald's angelfish; the Sabang Wrecks just beyond hold turtles, batfish and sea kraits but sit at scuba depth. Constant dive-banca traffic: tow a surface marker buoy and stay close inside the moored bancas. Do not anchor a yacht off Sabang - visit by dinghy or tricycle from Muelle Bay. Puerto Galera municipal waters are protected (UNESCO Man and Biosphere reserve) - no touching or collecting.

Best for

Snorkelling straight off the beach after lunch in Sabang

Season

Best Nov-May; the north-facing beach takes chop in the NE monsoon
