Pinamalayan Bay Anchorage

13° 2.0′ N · 121° 30.0′ E · approximate

Open sand anchorage off the market town of Pinamalayan, on the east coast midway between Calapan and Roxas - a practical provisioning and fuel stop before heading south to the Tablas Strait.

Practical

Position approx: about 0.4 NM east of the OSM Pinamalayan Lighthouse (13.03328N 121.49233E) and port (13.03154N 121.49205E); no surveyed anchor spot or depth is published - sound in. Sail The Philippines: anchor on sand off the town; most fresh vegetables, fruits and seafood plus fuel available; leave someone aboard when going ashore in case the anchor drags. Wikipedia: the semi-circular waterfront on Pinamalayan Bay is a sheltered anchorage for inter-island vessels; the coast curves south toward Duyagan Point. Exposed to the east - a SW-monsoon (Jun-Oct) stop; untenable in a strong NE monsoon. Better shelter in most seasons south of Dumali Point (see entry).

Best for

East-coast provisioning stop between Calapan and Roxas

Season

SW monsoon (Jun-Oct) and calm spells; exposed in NE monsoon
