Northeast Monsoon Swell on the West Coast (Sabang to Port Barton)
10° 18.0′ N · 119° 0.0′ E · approximate
Palawan's west coast is cruisable all year, but the northeast monsoon gives more anchorages and more stable weather, with the clearest water from December to March; the catch is that north-facing bays like Sabang roll in northerly swell, and swell works into Port Barton's southern corner.
Practical
Position approximate: a reference point offshore midway between Sabang and Port Barton, not a site. In northerlies anchor at the north end of Port Barton beach (Noonsite) and treat Sabang as a day stop. Palawan lies below the usual typhoon track, making it one of the safest cruising grounds in the Philippines (SEAP). Tidal range seldom exceeds 1 m.
