Magdiwang Anchorage (off Ambulong Port)

12° 29.9′ N · 122° 29.2′ E · approximate

Off Sibuyan's main RoRo port at Ambulong on the north coast, the arrival point for Magdiwang town, Lambingan Falls and the Guiting-Guiting trailhead.

Practical

Approx: placed about 230 m north-west of the Ambulong pier head and 400 m off the OpenStreetMap coastline, not a published anchoring position; depth and holding not found in our sources, so sound in. Keep well clear of the pier and RoRo turning area (weekly RoRos from Batangas, Manila and Lucena, plus motor boats from San Agustin and Romblon). Magdiwang light (Fl) at 12.4972, 122.4905 marks the small headland and breakwater just east of the pier. The north coast faces the Sibuyan Sea: exposed in the amihan (NE), better in the habagat (SW). Ashore: Petron fuel (12.49605, 122.50239), market in the town centre (12.49114, 122.51447), Floating Cafe, stores; Magdiwang Beach runs more than 2 km west of town. The DENR park office (permits for Guiting-Guiting) is in Tampayan, east of town.
