Dapa Port Anchorage

9° 45.0′ N · 126° 3.1′ E · approximate

The working harbour of Dapa on Siargao's south coast, sheltered by the Bucas islands to the south; the ferry and RoRo port for Surigao and the place cruisers bound for Palau use as a final protected stop.

Practical

Approx position: about 400 m south of the Dapa ferry terminal (OpenStreetMap node 1021703341), checked to be in water against the OSM coastline; no published depth or holding figures were found. Noonsite (last updated Dec 2016) calls Dapa 'a useful and protected point of departure after clearing out at Surigao', about 50 NM east of Surigao. Expect ferry, RoRo and banca traffic day and night; keep clear of the ferry berths and channel. Ashore: Petron fuel station next to the port (jerry cans), tricycle terminal and market nearby (Lakwatsero), ATMs that often reject foreign cards (Lakwatsero, 2021 update). Ferries for Socorro (Bucas Grande) leave from Dapa. Clear in/out at Surigao City, not here. A first international cruise port and terminal at Dapa was under construction in November 2023 (TIN/PNA report); expect more large-ship traffic and possible changes to the waterfront once it opens - verify locally.
