Bonbon Anchorage (Romblon west lee)

12° 34.0′ N · 122° 14.7′ E · approximate

A pretty daytime and settled-weather stop in the lee of Romblon Island's west coast, tucked south of the Bonbon-to-Bang-og sandbar with white sand on two sides.

Practical

Approx: placed about 300 m south-west of Bonbon Beach and 450 m east of Bang-og islet, south of the sandbar that dries between them at low tide (OSM coastline); not a published cruiser position, so sound in and anchor on sand clear of coral. Depth and holding not reported in our sources; the dive sites just off the beach run from 3 m to 25 m, so expect the bottom to drop off quickly. Protection: Romblon Island and the sandbar give a lee from the north-east amihan (roughly Nov to Apr); open to the west and south-west, so leave in the habagat or any westerly. About 5 km from Romblon town by road (tricycle); Tiamban and the Lonos beaches are next door. Day-tripper bancas visit; keep clear of swimmers on the sandbar.

Best for

Lunch stop and sandbar swim in NE winds

Season
