Melaque Anchorage (Bahía de Navidad)
19° 13.1′ N · 104° 42.6′ W · approximate
An open-roadstead anchorage in the northwest corner of Bahía de Navidad, tucked behind the hook at Isla Toriz off the town of San Patricio-Melaque — handy for the town, its market and buses, and for boats that draw too much for the Barra lagoon.
Practical
Position approximate: placed in the northwest corner of the bay inside the hook formed by Punta Melaque and Isla Toriz, from the OpenStreetMap coastline. Noonsite (2019): in settled weather and seas anchor in sand in about 20 ft behind the hook off Melaque. Open to the south and to swell; the beach landing can be through surf. Melaque has grocery stores (Super Hawaii, Mi Bodega Aurrera), banks, a clinic, laundries, a hardware store and the bus station. Islotes Los Lobos Marinos lie just west of Isla Toriz — keep clear. Barra de Navidad and its lagoon entrance are about 2 nm southeast.
Best for
Town access and a deeper-water alternative to the Barra lagoon
