A big, resort-lined bay behind Isla El Venado — the classic first night on the hook after splashing in San Carlos, for swimming, bottom cleaning and testing the watermaker.
Practical
Anchor anywhere; favourite spots are the N or SE corners depending on swell, in sand at 15-25 ft, good holding. Protected N, E, S. From the south, Punta San Antonio is steep-to except a visible rock just inside the point. From the north, clear the large set of rocks awash 1/4-1/2 nm SSE of Isla El Venado — at night, avoid the area and enter from the southern half of the bay. Don't block the approach to Marina Real. Dinghy landing usually in the north corner; restaurants ashore. Weekend party boats and curious jet skiers. A couple of hours' sail from Marina San Carlos, often upwind.
Best for
Shakedown night after launching
