Penguin Bank
21° 0.0′ N · 157° 33.0′ W · approximate
A vast submerged shelf running 28 miles west-southwest from Laau Point, only 21 to 30 fathoms deep, where the Kaiwi Channel seas stand up steeply.
Practical
Coast Pilot 10: fairly flat sand and coral at 21 to 30 fathoms; along the north, west and south edges it drops very abruptly into more than 100 fathoms; a northeast set over the bank joins the north current along Molokai's west coast and is felt at the edge of the bank when passing inside the 100-fathom curve. Coordinate is approx, mid-bank. Expect steeper, confused seas over the bank in strong trades.
