Ka'awaloa (Captain Cook Monument) Trail
19° 29.2′ N · 155° 55.8′ W
The steep footpath that drops from the coffee country above Kealakekua Bay to the Cook Monument at Ka'awaloa, the only land route to the monument reef for crew who want to walk rather than paddle.
Practical
Coordinate is a point on the mapped Captain Cook Monument Trail in OpenStreetMap (the trail descends to the monument at 19.48131, -155.93344). Hawaii State Parks: hiking the Ka'awaloa Trail is one of the two ways to reach the area (the other is a guided kayak tour with a permitted vendor); there are no restrooms, so pack out all trash. Bring plenty of water for the hot climb back up.
