Hana Highway (Road to Hana)

20° 53.9′ N · 156° 13.3′ W

The famous 64-mile road from Kahului to Hana, with about 620 curves and 59 bridges (46 one lane) through rainforest, waterfalls and taro valleys; for a sailor it is the land route to East Maui's harbor-less coast.

Practical

Position is the Wikipedia article coordinate (20°53'52"N 156°13'20"W). Hana is 52 miles from Kahului but about 2.5 hours uninterrupted; mileposts in guides refer to Route 360, which starts at mile 0 east of Haiku and reaches Hana at mile 34. Beyond Hana the road continues as Route 31 (Piilani Highway) to Kipahulu and Kaupo. Fill up with gas in Paia; Hasegawa's station in Hana is the only fuel beyond. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places (2001).

Best for
