Yacht Club de Tahiti Moorings (Arue)

17° 31.5′ S · 149° 32.1′ W

A handful of club moorings and occasional end-ties inside the reef at Arue, reached through the buoyed Passe d'Arue: a quieter, cheaper base than the Papeete marinas when a buoy is free.

Practical

GPS is the Tahiti Cruisers Guide position for the Yacht Club anchorage. Moorings are rarely available and expensive; ask the club on VHF 6 or +689 40 42 78 03 (office Mon–Fri 8am–noon and 1–5pm, Sat 9am–noon). A 46 ft boat paid 900 XPF a day for 2 people plus 200 per extra person (2010; verify locally). Dinghy dock and hot showers 1,500 XPF a week. Depths around 20 m; anchoring near the club is reported not allowed (2017 gendarme comment; Dec 2019 reports). Hazards (2010): a bommie near the stone wall and thatched canoe shed in front of the slips, and a sunken yacht with its mast showing between the wall and the slips. Carrefour Arue and the food trucks are a short walk away.

A quieter Tahiti base if a club buoy is free
