Krknjaši / Blue Lagoon (Drvenik Veli)

43° 26.3′ N · 16° 10.3′ E

A shallow turquoise lagoon on the south-east side of Drvenik Veli, closed off by the two Krknjaš islets. It is the classic first swim stop for boats leaving Trogir or Kaštela, about 7-8 nm out.

Practical

Coordinate is the OSM bay node 'Uvala Krknjaš'. Enter from the south: the gap between Drvenik and Krknjaš Mali is very shallow, and between Krknjaš Veli and Mali it is only 2.5-3 m. Anchor in 5-7 m on sand with patches of seagrass; avoid dropping on Posidonia and use marked buoys where they exist. Best shelter from westerlies and bura in the north-west part; open to the east and north-east and not a place to stay in southerlies. Very crowded midday with day-trip boats; quietest before 11 am and after 3 pm. A seasonal restaurant and beach bar ashore; the pontoons are for tour boats and locals. Grabule on the west side of Drvenik Veli is the all-weather alternative.

Best for
