Komiža Harbour (Vis)

43° 2.7′ N · 16° 5.3′ E

An old fishing town on the west coast of Vis, curled round a wide bay under Mount Hum. It is the jumping-off point for Biševo and the Blue Cave and one of the most atmospheric night stops in Dalmatia when the weather is settled.

Practical

Coordinate is the OSM marina point inside the breakwater. About 20-30 visitor berths stern-to on laid lines inside the breakwater, depth 2-4 m, water and power. Berth office +385 21 713 849 / +385 91 271 3000. Arrive by 2 pm in high season. Good shelter from N and E winds under Hum, but the bay is wide open to W and SW: in those winds the swell makes the quay unsafe, so stay in Vis town instead. Heavy traffic from Blue Cave boats. No fuel in Komiža; fill up in Vis town. Small supermarkets and a fishermen's museum in the Kaštel tower.

Best for
