Staniard Creek Anchorage

24° 50.6′ N · 77° 53.5′ W

A snug, all-round-protected anchorage inside the mouth of Staniard Creek, reached by a dredged channel, next to Kamalame Cay and a short walk from the settlement nicknamed the 'Garden of Andros'.

Practical

Position from ActiveCaptain. Depth 5 to 8 ft inside with very good holding; the anchoring area east of the marker is small. The approach is shallow (about 7 ft controlling until the channel; one boat saw 5.5 ft near high tide after straying east) and needs care: see the Staniard Creek entrance passage. Watch the shoal of discarded conch shells near the Kamalame launch dock on the east side. Tie the dinghy to one of two private docks. Two small grocery stores behind Staniard Creek Primary School: dinghy up the creek to the bridge, tie to the bridge or fishermen's moorings on the east side, then walk about 100 yards east. Good beaches across the main road. BTC signal.
