South Cistern Anchorage

25° 17.0′ N · 76° 20.2′ W

The sand anchorage just around the point north of Alabaster Bay, the fallback when south-east trades make Alabaster rough, with sand-dollar bars that bare at low tide.

Practical

Position from the ActiveCaptain marker. Easy approach between a small island and a freestanding rock to the north; plenty of depth, all sand, easy to set first time. Push in as far as you can to get out of the swell. Protected from north-east through to south depending how far in you tuck (ActiveCaptain, 2018). The sand bars to the south are covered in live sand dollars at the lowest tides: walk carefully.

Best for

South-east trades when Alabaster Bay is rolly
