Fresh Creek Anchorage (Andros Town)

24° 43.5′ N · 77° 47.2′ W

The tidal creek between Andros Town and Coakley Town, central Andros's main harbour, where the Androsia batik factory, a lighthouse and the yacht club sit at the mouth.

Practical

Position from ActiveCaptain. Current is the story here: up to about 3 knots on the ebb (area notes) and reported at 6 knots through the creek (ActiveCaptain inlet note). The channel bottom is scoured, so set the anchor very well. Three or four free mooring balls; only the northernmost is usable by keel boats, and a 2013 reviewer advises against them. No anchoring just past the marina docks: the ferry uses it as a turning basin. There may be sand NW of the moorings. Free dinghy access at the Andros Lighthouse docks and local docks on both sides of the creek. Pets need a Bahamas pet permit. Many cruisers prefer the Long Cay anchorage just north.
