Bartlett Cove Public Use Dock and Anchorage

58° 27.3′ N · 135° 53.2′ W

Bartlett Cove is the National Park Service headquarters and the only road-and-dock hub of Glacier Bay National Park, with a public use dock, lodge and visitor information station. Private boats check in here and begin the permit routine for the bay.

Practical

Coordinate is the OSM Bartlett Cove Marina. NPS rules: no anchoring or mooring within 100 yards of the Public Use Dock; anchoring limited to seven consecutive days; mooring buoys and lines generally need ranger authorization; shore power not allowed unless authorized; blackwater discharge prohibited in Bartlett Cove, with a pump-out at the fuel dock and a sewage dump station ashore. Sources differ on whether the dock water is potable (NPS goods-and-services page says drinking water; the places page says non-potable); unconfirmed. A boat reportedly needs a transient permit before entering the park limit (single trip report; unconfirmed). Between June 1 and August 31 a vessel permit is needed to go west of the fuel dock; see the permit entry.
